PPI communication via radiomodem

darkbits Posts: 31 Rating: (0)	Hi experts. Ehmm..just wondering..Is possible stablish ppi communicaction via radiomodems? Or is just IMPOSSIBLE like someone said in a thread a long time ago? I am wasting my time trying that? I just want to know your experiences or theorys at respect. Ok. Thank you all.

My modem supports RS232 and RS485, now i was trying to make it work in 485 2-wire mode, so i was using a cable connecting them directly (not need of conversion) and the modem configured to give the minimun latency possible, however, it doesnt works. You really think that using the modem in RS232 mode and a PC/PPI cable it could work? (I just have one, so i would have to buy another one, that's why i ask). Thanks for the reply.

This should work, but you must be sure that your modem supports bridge mode. When we had the same project I wasn't the one who configured modem so I can't help with modem configuration, but if modem configs at both ends is correct, this must work. Maybe there is some issues with modems you use and they can't do the job. We used Elpro RF modems and everything worked out.

darkbits Posts: 31 Rating: (0)	The modem i'm using does not have the option of function in bridge mode, but i tried modifying and modifying parameters in order to reduce latency to a minimal, but...nothing worked out. So, I quit. I was just wasting my time trying that, because now i found the marvelous s7-200 modbus library, and now, using the modem, even with factory parameters, i have communication between plc's..nice and easy.
