Hello to All,

I am preparing to copy the existing running Program from S5 PLC to PC using STEP5 software.
Purpose of my copying from PLC to PC is to have program ready for download in case if gets deleted due to battery or any other reason.
I will use/follow your below PDF instructions for Upload.

What I would like to know is following :

1. Do I have to put PLC in STOP in order to Upload the Program or I can Upload while PLC being in RUN and operational ?
2. After Upload finished does program stays in PLC and can I just plug off PG cable or need to follow some specific procedure ?
   

I am new in this so please support me.

As i remember there are no special procedures necessary. Just plug in the connectors and transfer the program from PLC to PC. Be sure to use the right direction and don't unplug while the transmission is working. In most cases you will be asked to stop the PLC, this is done with the PC program.
