Using proximity sensors on LOGO 24

Cheekyeng Posts: 5 Rating: (0)	Hi - new user so apologies if asking basic things! I've recently obtained a LOGO 24 (transistor type) for using on test rigs for repetitive actions. The question that I'm finding hard to answer is about the use of proximity sensors with the LOGO - do I need PNP or NPN type, and is there a requirement for an inline resistor or something else to make sure it works ok? Can't find any answers in the manual or the website - only one other entry to do with PNP sensors on the forum but it wasn't answered....... Also, I'm not too clear as to the plug in memory blocks with batteries - again the manual or website not clear.....what is the battery module for, and do I need to consider getting a hybrid memory/battery plug in module for putting pre written programs into the LOGO? Thanks

Betel Posts: 1690 Rating: (584)	Hi Cheekyeng, for infos of NPN and PNP look at the internet and at the attached file.. At the LOGO! you can connect both. Then you must only use the corresponded I/O-pin in the circuit as activ "high" = "1"(PNP) OR as active "low" = "0"(NPN; = use it inverted). The LOGO! Memory Card (purple) provides storage for the circuit program. The LOGO! Battery Card provides battery backup of the real-time clock for up to two years. The LOGO! Memory/Battery cardprovides both circuit program storage and battery backup of the real-time clock. I think a external storage you only need if you want to use a protection of the circuit Or if you wont to transfer a program to one or more LOGO! modules without a PC. Am finding it interesting to program the LOGO - have written my first program for a repetitive test rig and it is running fine......am planning on obtaining more LOGO units to upgrade the current obsolete TOSHIBA Plc's and use the plug in memory modules for ease of setup for the department - the cost works out to be very competitive for this reason! Appreciate your reply - will drop another thread if I have any more questions Regards Cheekyeng
