Hello,

telegrams are used for the cyclic data exchange between PLC and SINAMICS drives. There are different telegrams which contain different cyclic parameters and thus they are used for different kind of applications. There are several types of telegrams in general:

- PROFIdrive standard telegrams (e.g. telegram 1)

- Siemens telegrams (e.g. telegram 111)

- PROFIsafe telegrams (e.g. telegram 30, used for safety integrated functions)

- free telegrams (used for user specific communication)

So depending on the task you want to realize with the drive you need to select the suitable telegram.

If you just want to do a simple speed control (switching on the drive and give a speed setpoint from the PLC) then you could use standard telegram 1.

If you want to use the basic positioner in the drive to do positioning for example, you can use telegram 111.

On the PLC  side there are ready-to-use function blocks for some of the telegrams. Please have a look at the DriveLib. Here you find blocks like "SINA_SPEED" to do speed control with telegram 1.
