I am a bit confused with Siemens software, never used safety before.

What is the difference between Distributed Safety V5.4 and S7 F Systems V6.2 (versions are used as examples, probably the latest ones at the moment of writing this message)?

Firstly I thought one is relevant for ordinary Step 7 and the other one for PCS7 but I am not sure anymore.

Can someone explain this please?

 S7 F Systems V6.2 is for CFC as of V8.0 SP4 Update 4 -> (PCS7)

Distributed Safety V5.4 is for Classic Step7 5.5 ->

Hi, thanx for the quick answer, but I think that is not it.

We have PCS7 with, I believe S7 F-Systems 6.2.

If I understand correctly, STEP 7 Safety Basic V15.1 is for TIA.

I thought someone could give an overview of the safety software componets, libraries and licenses, maybe as a sticky subject. There are also other keywords, like Safety Matrix etc. It is really confusing.

Hi Hati, what if I use ordirnary Step 7 v 5.x with CFC installed on top of it?

 S7 F Systems V6.2 is for CFC as of V8.0 SP4 Update 4 and never versions. So basically it doesn't need PCS7 installed.

If I understand correctly, STEP 7 Safety Basic V15.1 is for TIA.

To mix thing up, there are Step7 Safety Basic and Step7 Safety Advanced. Then you can have them as a combo license to cover Classic Step7 and TIA Portal.

Step7 Safety Basic is just for the S7-1200F controller.

For the other F-CPUs in TIA you need Step7 Safety Advanced (V15.1)
