That sounds like a very interesting project.  As your explanation could be interpreted a few different ways, would you be able to create a diagram of what you want to achieve?

Won't the Camin command abord the active gearing?

It will. After "Override response: Synchronous operation jobs" in the Information system.

So this would mean that my intention of camming superimposed on gearing won't work in Siemens?

• At random you want to start a superimposed motion on some of these axes.  The superimposed motion must happen at an undetermined time after the initial gearing - that is, you can't know in advance when it's going to happen.
• The superimposed motion is complex.  It's not something that is covered by MC_MoveSuperimposed.

In other words, you want to do something like this:

Thankyou for the clarification.  

Perhaps what you could do is make your cam the sum of the gearing and the superimposed motion.  The cam would look like the superimposed profile, slanted because it's sitting on top of a straight line, which is the gearing.  You could then immediately synchronize using SyncProfileReference = 2.  I found this FAQ explaining how this mode works: https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/document/109758886/

How to handle the end of the superimposed motion (return to plain gearing)?  I think your cam can include a section at the end which is just the gearing part (straight line).  You then execute GearIn with similar settings that allow it to take immediate effect.

 I haven't done this myself, so can't confirm that it will work.  But if you can ensure a bumpless transition between gear - cam - gear, I think it will.  Technology Team - do you have any advice about how to do that?
