WinAC and SQL

sick_boy Posts: 1 Rating: (0)	Good morning everybody ! I have a SQL based communication (A4027462-A0462) between a Mysql server and some microboxes running WinAC 2008. I have to download fom the server values for polynomes, and these are floating-points. As S7 only recognizes REAL numbers and as my server only yields FLOAT or DOUBLE (both are, for mysql, synonyme to real), I have a "conflict" (!). So I tryied to pass these floating-point values via STRINGs and then retrieve them vith the use of the IEC function FC39. And this worked. Now my question is, is it possible to reduce the size of the transmited string ? Standard is 254 char and I only use 14 char at a time so the rest is memory lost and as I have 3 x 30 parameters to download it eats a lot of space for nothing. I tried to create a new UDT with the size of the string reduced to 16 or 24 but I always get an overflow. I precize that I'm not a huge specialist in programming ! Any idea / sugestion ?? zeroptr Posts: 31 Rating: (0)	Hi, I recommend you to use CAST function of database to convert the values.. String operations are too slow I don't recomend them... Sory for my poor english..
