S5 Software related to my 155H rack

zzAido1 Posts: 6 Rating: (0)	I'm a little confused in regards to my software needs for accessing a S5 155h rack. There is the basic S5 package which allows you to programme in S5, etc. Then there is reference to COM155H software which I understand to be an add on to the basic package. I can see there might be a relationship between 155H rack and COM 155H s/w. I also read there is a COM 95F programme which is once again and extension to the S5 basic package and is used in accessing the 95F PLC line. So my question is really a clarification - do I need the COM 155H software extension to comunicate with my 155H rack or can I get away with using my basic S5 package? The processor in the rack is the 948R as further information. Thank you in advance, zz

If you do not want to have the System to run as an H System you do not have to care, but than you should set the System another way. So without the COM 155H you can not use the redundancy. zzAido1 Posts: 6 Rating: (0)	Hi J To understand you correctly and having thought a little more about this, I take it that I can write my S5 code using the basic package. I f I wished to load my 155h rack from the basic software it would be for simple non-redundant operation. However as there are redundant processor and bus cards, my system is obviously setup as redundant. To realise this redundancy in my code - do I need to "compile" the code with the COM 155H software or is this just used to handle the transfer of the already generated S5 code to the redundant system? Hope you get what I'm trying to say there....zz

Jomy Posts: 8 Rating: (0)	COM 155H Software is used for configuring your redundancy options. Here you configure all the parameters including you IO configuration what is switched IO what is redundant IO and so on. So COM 155H addon is required if you need to work on H systems. It is not just compiling S5 code for redundancy. H system is more than the general redundancy which most other manufacturers talk about. The CPU itself is designed for redundancy and the redundancy software is in the firmware itself Vs software redundancy in which the user program takes care of redundancy.

NSL Posts: 6 Rating: (0)	I think that 95F is for the S5 95U safety PLC. Siemens made a early Safety on the basis of 95U. Here they have 2 95U with a light cable in betveen.
