formula in calculating TW-/US-?UL time

Vijay Silver Member Joined: 3/17/2013 Last visit: 4/28/2025 Posts: 481 Rating: (43)	In one of the applications of 11.7 MW Siemens Synchronous MV motor, the s7-300 PLC logic is calculating 3 timings to restrict number of starts on the motor and on HMI displays messages like TW time running etc. The times used are TW Time ----------------->Time for temperature transfer from rotor windingCu to rotor Fe Us Time ------------------> Time for temp transfer fromFe to air in Standstill mode UL Time -------------------> Time fo r tmep transfer from Fe to air in operation mode I wish to know how these times are calculated in the logic for allowing II and III start of the motor after first start -stop/trip Regards, Vijay

Normally Siemens technical know how protected blocks cannot be unlocked except experts in PLC field. So I thicnk the necessary information about the cycles & timings is very well explained in sheet. For example, we had situations where we consumed first Coldstart-stop, next start allowed is approximately after 15 mins. If we consumed II start stop, we are unaware of III allowable start time as it is variying always.I My intereset is how torque, winding temperature and other dynamic values are used in arriving this calcluated times Regards, Vijay

PISCEAN 2010 Posts: 8092 Rating: (884)	Hello, It looks like FB18 is configured as PID. For winding temp see the input 122, it will give temp. For motor torque, depending upon motor capacity it must have entered in variables. In the attached sheet it is mentioned as OP. So check those values in OP. For more detailed information which you expect, it needs to study complete wiring & PLC logic. But again as the block is technical know how protected, user cannot read it stepwise. So just check those on OPs. HTH
