Pulse flow measurement over long time period

jinga Posts: 26 Rating: (2)	Hi! I need to write a program (TIA v11) to read impulse from a flow meter which gives 1pulse/L. The flowmeter is connected to I0.0 and I have enabled HSC1, setting "counting measurement". The problem is that the flow rate is about 3/4 LPM. I have tried to write a simple program in which I read ID1000 in a cyclic interrupt having execution time of 60 s, but it continues adding the pulses for each interrupts. How can I reset HSC values at the end of each OB35? Thank you in advance, Valeria

How can I reset HSC values at the end of each OB35? Thank you in advance, Valeria If your HSC reset has a physical reset input, you can wire up a PLC output to activate the reset. If you are using the CTRL_HSC block to reset the HSC, it is a matter of calling that reset FB/FC somewhere in your OB35. The help documentation for CTRL_HSC (F1-help, search, CTRL_HSC) states: Count value (NEW_CV): The count value is the initial value at which a high-speed counter starts counting. The count value can be in the range -2147483648 to 2147483647. The count value specified at the NEW_CV input is loaded into a high-speed counter when the bit at the CV input is set.

jinga Posts: 26 Rating: (2)	I've tried with both of the solution you suggested. Going with CTRL_HSC, what do I need to wire to CV input? I mean, how can I create a variable with value 1 right every 60 seconds?

Would some of you experts give my program a look and tell if it is fine? Looks good to me for resetting the clock. Why are you able to download but not monitor the counter while online with the plc? That is confusing. Just click the > arrow near the top of the programming pane to go online and monitor it live.

If you are online with the plc and you can monitor logic in the programming pane, double click your block (OB/FB/FC) to view the logic. Once it opens, click somewhere in the programming pane. I usually click in the white space around the logic. The button should be clickable now.
