We like to use an MPCB for a 3HP motor.

Do we need a motor starter inaddition to MPCB?

Does the motor start automatically after a power failure if we use a MPCB, which I do not want for safety reasons?

MPCB = Motor Protection Circuit Breaker.

In addition to MPCB, you need contactor + Push button station to switch ON & OFF power supply & can not use MPCB to start/stop motor.

 Can we have the feature of motor not getting restarted after a power failure, if we connect a contactor and a push button station in addition to MPCB?

Yes. When power fails, contactor latch/hold signal gets cut off so the contactor.

When power gets restored, user/operator needs to press START push buton so that contactor gets switch ON & gets hold thru hold contact. User/operator can stop the motor by pressing STOP button as per requirement.
