Interconnection address for output of type "Any/Pointer" in CFC

Nil96 Posts: 325 Rating: (14)	Hi, I used SFC14 in a normal FC(ladder) and the address I gave to the output pin named "record" of data type "Any" is P#DB101.DBX0.0 BYTE 12. This is working fine. Say, if I insert SFC14 directly in CFC, then I have a problem in assigning the address for the same pin named "record". If I assign P#DB101.DBX0.0 BYTE 12, it gives an error "interconnection invalid. With I/Os of type Any/Pointer, the data types of the address must be know". Can any one help me how to assign the address for Output Pin of type "Any" in CFC. Regards Nil

Sydney Gold Member Joined: 1/4/2008 Last visit: 12/22/2025 Posts: 703 Rating: (98)	Hello, in CFC you should use symbolic names, so in your DB should be named structure or data type of UDT. When click "Inteconnection to Address" you won't see the struct, just select your DB and then manualy fillname of destination data structure.

For Example : I have to Store 12 bytes in DB100 Starting from address DBX0.0. How do I put this for the pin named "Record". If I directly use P#DB100.DBX0.0 BYTE 12, this gives me a problem. Can u guide me how this could be achieved in a bit detailed way: Best Regards Anil

In the DB create the data structurelike in pict. no.1 Content is up to you according todevice config. 2. InCFCuse interconnection to addresson the RECORD output and select the whole structure (pict. no.2) 3. The result is the pointer interconnection (picture no.3) If you have more devices of the same type I would reccomend to use UDT instead of structure, the connection procedure is similar. As per ur example, we are only specifying the DB & the Structure address. Since SFC14 reads a set of data bytes from Profibus Slave, we also need to specify how many bytes to be read & stored... Can u plz help me out ... Regards Nil

Nil96 Posts: 325 Rating: (14)	Hi Sabine, I couldn't get what u said. Anyway let me make my problem more simpler to u: 1) In the h/w config. I have inserted the gsd file of micromaster4 of type PPO4. In this case we haveto read 6 words from the drive & write 6 words to the drive. 2) One way to read & write the data from drive is by means of SFC14 & SFC15 blocks. 3) For example, I use SFC14 to read data. For the pin named record, we need to specify the address where the data from the PPO4 has to be stored along with the number of bytes to be read. 4) Say I use this SFC14 in an FC, then I can directly use the pointer ( P#DB101.DBX0.0 BYTE 12 ) 5) This pointer concept doesn't work when I insert the SFC14 in CFC. 6) Later I tried the meathod what "sydney" replied to my post earlier. But even thats not working and I suppose that we need to tell the CFC how many bytes SFC14 has to read. This is where I am stuck....... Regards Nil

Just fill in the structure with your 12 bytes according to hw config,when you use the ANY pointer to whole structurein CFC symbolicaly, the compiler fills the ANY pointer with the appropriate data included the length...
