Admin password "changing" Simatic TP177B

rblack Posts: 5 Rating: (0)	Hello all, I have a bunch of TP177B's all running the identical HMI program, developed in WinCC Flexible 2008. There is only 1 user on the screens, and it is part of the Admin group. Normally the screens just run a default user, but when the operator needs to change something they must login as our created user in order to do so. Everyonce in awhile the operator will enter the correct username (100) and password (100) but will get the message, "You have insufficient authorization.....". The only way to get the screen functioning properly again is to redownload the HMI program to the screen. I have searched this issue on the forum, and have seen the issue with someone entering the wrong password 3 consecutive times and being locked out. But I don't think that applies here because our user is an administrator, I believe because they are in the administrator group. Correct me if I am wrong...! There is also nothing setup for password expiring so it should not be that kicking them out. Any suggestions are appreciated

Dear rblack, You are wrong, Users (and administrators) have the same problem. When you use wrong password or username 3 consecutive times they will be locked out. In WinCC flexible go to Runtime User Adminstration -> Runtime Security settings. Here you can change the 'Number of invalid login attempts' When you set it to '0', user or administrator will never be locked out. Best regards, Wizard

My further question is : 1) Can I do redownload to 1 of the 25 TP, and when the Admin User is not "locked-out", I do a backup to a Memory Card. Then, using that Memory Card, I do restore from Memory Card to all other 24 TPs, without using my PC connected to all the other 24 TPs. Will this solve the "locked-out" problem for all the other 24 TPs? Will the restore using Memory Card affect the License in each of the 24 TPs? regards, SCideas

Makes the situation confusing on what has happened to the HMI, you are just told that the password does not work any more. From the WinCCflexible project software, you cannot see the admin password if, as in our case, one was created by the OEM for recovery purposes. If you can't contact them, you just start over and re-download the HMI. Was this supposed to be a 'feature'? (Keywords sentence) We have MP377 WinCCflex passwords were maybe lost maybe changed, they just don't work until the HMI is downloaded with the overwrite passwords checked. I just blew a hole in another Saturday because of this. At least I think I figured out what is happening now. Thanks for the info
