SD card halts/bricks Logo 8 after power cycle

Kingston SD card , Formatted FAT32 16GB Turn off Logo 8 , insert SD card , apply power once I applied power there was no response on the LCD or anything until I removed the SD card tray and even while powered on if I slide the SD card tray the SD card doesn't get recognised. Is there a way to get someone at Siemens to RMA it or send it for a return ? Thank you in advance Le Test !!

If you have the LOGO! bought through a dealer, you have to complain to the dealer. The card slot for the mSD card is an unfortunate construction and not for people who work quite roughly with such devices. Bent pins on the card slot are usually the problem. If the card slot is pushed in improperly and with greater force, the pins will not end up in the connector strip and will be bent.

Le Test !! Experienced Member Joined: 8/15/2015 Last visit: 4/5/2025 Posts: 133 Rating: (4)	I don't think that is the case for 2 reasons , if the Logo is powered up and I insert the SD card tray it tries to see if the SD card is okay but it said failure to submit so I don't think the pins are bent

I haven't had problems once. The last one I tried was 64 GB of memory. I set up a 32 GB partition with FAT32 for her. This also works without any problems. That the LOGO! has a problem, it can only be because: - the LOGO! cannot read the card because something is wrong with the card. - or problems with the card slot (bent pins). I am not aware of any other cases.

Experienced Member Joined: 8/15/2015 Last visit: 4/5/2025 Posts: 133 Rating: (4)	Dear Sir , Then it means that the Logo 8 or CPU whatever you want to call it is not reading the SD card properly , due to something wrong with the CPU , I did find a way to remove the SD card tray without taking apart the whole PLC cover , there is a clip on the left side of the SD card tray if you press that the whole SD card tray comes out without opening the case ( guess my warranty is still valid ? ) then pins are almost perfect there is 1 pin that is like 0.05mm not aligned with the next one so I presume that is normal like you must really look to see that they are not 100% alligened is nothing compared to your pictures. So I presume something inherently wrong is going on with the CPU board. ( maybe some power rail is dead or i am just so unlucky ) anyway I will ask the local distributor if he can help , or else I have an expensive(ish) 100 EURO PLC that I can't trust :D ( since is having some gimmicks now and then ) and maybe buy a new one. and call it a day , but the LTE module doesn't fulfill all my expectations either ... so yeah .. a bit of a pain ... trying to find a proper solution. In this case, contact your dealer for exchange. If the LOGO! runs, then try another msd card. Please observe to use a windows PC to format the msd card. For Mac and linux there are some drivers name fat32, but this drivers format it different (different cluster size). Hope this helps
