Hello Everyone!

I have an ET200SP CPU that is already programmed but protected by a password. Now I want to do some tests because the existing program still not working properly but I don't want to erase the existing program. Is it possible to change the Simatic Memory Card and replace it with the new one? then if I need to return the old program, I just put back the old memory card.

If I set it to the factory setting, does it affect the old MC? My idea is if I am done with my test which is to download the new MC with the new program, I can put back the old memory which is the old program still working the same as before I replaced the MC.

My colleague has experience in MC which has a password and after trying to put back the MC, the program is invalid. I don't want that to happen :)

Hi,

yes this is possible because Memory Card contains all Data for PLC to run (Software + Hardware).

If you change MC it could be, that PLC has to set to factory settings. If PLC is configured with protect confidential PLC data you must delete it like this here: Assign password via SIMATIC Memory Card

Ok great! I will try it on the Demo Unit before executing in the PLC that I want to change.
