I would like to run any Logo Soft Comfort on a Mac. I used to work with V7, so I do have the CD but no CD player anymore. 

I have a retired computer running OS10.15 Catalina and another one OS14 Somora. 

- On the first one I still have V7, but that does work anymore as v7 does not support Catalina. I tried to update via the update package did not manage to get it working.  

- I don't mind to pay for LSC8v, but I don't know how to get it running. I tried via de demo software with the expectation that I could pay for a full license. But also don't seem to get it started (I did updated my java software.) 

I am a bit of a lost here. Is there a download/pay button for v8, v8.1, ... that is compatible with an intel running OS14?

Please use the "Support Request" link and have Siemens provide you with their answers. Do let us know what the Siemens Support team said.

The install CD of LOGOComfort version 8.x need x86_64 binary of Java Runtime version 8. in macOS there is a command you could use to know what Java version that is used as default.

Ps. LOGOComfort version 8.4 use Java runtime version 11 (x86_64) AWS Corretto.

wojciech_fic_fixit, you mean that you have Java version 8 installed (and not 11), and the DVD with LSC version 8.3 does not install?

To get your Java version, you can type in the Terminal “/usr/libexec/java_home”, or “java -version”.  If this the righ Java version 8, the DVD should run the installation fine.  

To upgrade to version 8.4, you have to follow the instructions of the topic shown by RingoDS.  You may also find other topics similar that could help on this forum.  Just remember that the 8.4 upgrade installs with Java 8, but you have to replace Java for Corretto 11, as FredrickS7 wrote above, in order to run LSC 8.4 (once installed).

About the download link for the free upgrade to version 8.4, it seems you are right, it does not exist anymore.  Even the link that my supplier gave me by email does not work anymore.  We have seen something similar in mid 2023, where only upgrade 8.2.1 was still available on Siemens web site, and the free upgrade to versions 8.3.1 (at the time) had disappeared.  I guess that it was in preparation to the release to the DVD 8.3 a couple of months later.  Note that the upgrade to 8.3.0 has been available since November 2020 and version 8.3.1 since September 2022 (3 years ago); version 8.4 has been available since sometime around Sep-Nov 2023.  It seems that it had an hidden expiration date.

This is good news for you [wojciech_fic_fixit].  You now have an access the Upgrade to LSC 8.4.

Their description is a bit confusing.  In the overview around the end, it says that LSC is of version 8.4.1, but it is really of version 8.4.0.1 (dated April 2024), so the table should say version 8.4.0 sp1, as the text say in the beginning of the description.  I have installed this upgrade, and even if the improvement #4 say “Improved installation for MAC OS”, we still have to go thru the same procedure to install it.  I had to remove Java 11, install Java 8, install LSC 8.4.0 sp1 (using the LSC 8.4 installation procedure), remove Java 8, reinstall Java 11, and I was up and running again.  By the way, with this version, if you open a a project, and just look at your diagram without touching anything, and close it, LSC will tell you that you have modified your project and ask you if you want to save it.  LSC 8.4 did not act that way.

So far, I haven't put the binary files in any of my Base Modules for the firmware update.
