-|N|- and -|P|- functions in MicroWin

Entrec Posts: 5 Rating: (1)	Hello, I need a flank/edge detection and the -\|N\|- -\|P\|- ports do not work for this function. I need a single scan signal when an input is detected. This should be a basic function, but am I overlooking something? I can work around it with -(S) / -(R) flipflops, but this is a function we use regularly and it seems like a waste of energy and code. Does anyone know if the -\|N\|- and -\|P\|- functions can be used in this fashion?

Positive and Negative Transition Instructions The Positive Transition contact instruction (EU) allows power to flow for one scan for each off-to-on transition. The Negative Transition contact instruction (ED) allows power to flow for one scan for each on-to-off transition. For the Positive Transition instruction, detection of a 0-to-1 transition in the value on the top of the stack sets the top of the stack value to 1; otherwise, it is set to 0. For a Negative Transition instruction, detection of a 1-to-0 transition in the value on the top of the stack sets the top of the stack value to 1; otherwise, it is set to 0. For run mode editing (when you edit your program in RUN mode), you must enter a parameter for the Positive Transition and Negative Transition instructions. Refer to Chapter 5 for more information about editing in RUN mode. When there is an input followed by the \|P\| instruction, everything behind the \|P\| instruction is run for just one scan. Entrec Posts: 5 Rating: (1)	Hi, I found that text in the helpfile (still not sure what they mean by "stack")... When all else failed I made a new program... I0.0 Q0.0 --\| \|-----------------\| P \|------( S ) 1 This line does not set the output Q0.0. No other lines in the program. PLC runs and I can monitor online, I see the front side of the P change color when I press the button on the input, but nothing happens behind it (output doesn't change). Even tried setting a memory bit (M1.0) and linking that in a new line to the output Q0.0.It should be this simple, but it isn't for some reason.

About 'the Stack' perhaps the manual will help explain this. http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/1109582 Figure 6.2 on page 71 explains the functionality of the stack.
