We're looking at upgrading the old style mechanical timers we have across our site for controlling outside floodlights with something we can manage remotely.

Scenario

Site: approx. 100 acres with 40+ buildings.

Approx. 40 outside floodlights are on simple timers to turn on evening (1800-2300) and morning (0500-0800).  Currently changing these in winter is very time consuming as they have to be adjusted manually.

Plan

Install a Logo! 230 RCEo to replace mechanical timers, and ideally networked (most buildings have network connection).

Floodlights are all under 10a current limit.

Advice

I've done some reading but wondered if anyone had advice on this kind of project?

Should be relatively straightforward to programme them to turn on/off at set times. Then also update them all as sunset times change into winter?

From reading: internal clock should last 20h+ in case of power outage. Am I correct that live network connection is not required for the timer to activate? Live network connection is only needed if/when you want to re-programme/control remotely.

The individual units don't need to communicate with each other, I assume there is no limit on the number of base units that can be connected to a single network?

I guess my query is:

1) If anyone has implemented a similar project to this do they have any advice/tips?

2) Is there any limit to the number of Logo! 230 RCEo units on a single network (not communicating with each other, but one network where they can be programmed centrally).

3) When creating a programme to turn on 40 units at a set time, is there a way to bulk change the time?

(last question probably a bit unclear and a few ways to do it, but if all floodlights should turn on at 1800 in the summer, can I easily programme it to change that to say 1600 in winter?)

2) Wanted to double check there isn't a limit to the number of base units that software like Logo!Soft Comfort can control? I assume there is not (was reading the documentation and is limit of number of base units of Logo! 8 that can be within a modbus network, so wanted to double check).

3) The plan is actually to have multiple (possibly close to 40) Logo! 8 base units (230 RCEo) around the site, each unit will only control 1 or 2 floodlights each (due to the physical separation, in different buildings etc).
So, when it comes to the programme, within software like Logo!Soft Comfort would I have to update the programme and send it to all 40 units individually or is there a way to send distribute new programme to multiple base units at once?
