Rounding Real in SCL

charlesm Posts: 44 Rating: (0)	I want to round my real numbers to a 4 place decimal. For example if I have 6.25010123456 I want to show it as 6.2501 I started by multiply by 10000.0 then round or turnc then divid by 10000.0 but this does not work. I have also tried converting to DINT and back and this did not work. Has anyone been able to do this in SCL?

Do you have done as open? Can you post the code and explain what is doesn't work?

So then I backed up a step and removed the /1000.0 [code]Trend_Data.Ram_AP[i] := ROUND(RMC1_STATUS.Ram_Actual_Pos * 1000.0);[/code] This removes the decimal places just like it should. 1.0112586325 in and 1011 out I posted this on some other fourms and I know other people are having the same type of problem. I am putting these values into an array then doing buffer bit trends back to WinCC Flexible. Iwant to limit the number of digits after the decimal point to make the trend table easy to read. Now with 6-8 decimal points it is a little hard.

Aret Posts: 2348 Rating: (265)	Guess your problem is that ROUND produces DINT, not real I tried this (REAL_TO_DWORD actually does nothing - only type change) MD0 := REAL_TO_DWORD( DINT_TO_REAL (ROUND (DWORD_TO_REAL(MD4)* 1000.0) ) /1000.0); MD4 = 12.3456789 => MD0 = 12.346 Everything seems fine:^) Of course SCL should warn you about such things, but it doesn't - and that's really annoying.

Aret Posts: 2348 Rating: (265)	Ok, i did DB1 "testdb" with 2 REAL variables - x and y. In OB1 i wrote: "testdb".y := DINT_TO_REAL(ROUND("dbtest".x * 1000.0))/1000.0; and everything is working fine. I'll repeat once again - round function gives DINT, soDINT_TO_REAL is obligatory.

charlesm Posts: 44 Rating: (0)	Good news and bad news. The good news is it does work. The bad news is it doesn't work in WinCC Flexible. I am taking these arrays and buffer bit trending back to WinCC Flexible. When I was doing these changes I was looking at the output in WinCC Flex. When I went back and looked at my SCL it was just like you had posted. So I thought I would look at the DB. The data looked correct in the DB so I know the SCL is working correctly. I can't do anything with the data in WinCC Flexible so I don't think I can fix my problem. Attached are screen shots of the DB showing the data correctly and one of WinCC Flexible trend showing it with more digits. Again, thanks for the help Attachment WinCCFlex_Trend.JPG (592 Downloads)
