i have a conveyor and i need to make a little addtion to the logo program.

i have a chain on a sprocket and a sensor attached looking at the pulses of the sprocket and i need to know if the chain is moving, so i need (if i can do this) a pulse counter that continually looks for pulse when the motor is on and if i dont see any pulse within a time period then stop.

now i have tried to do this with a normal off delay time but if the chain sprocket somehow stops on the pulse then there is no way of knowing if its actually stopped or not.

any ideas?

How many pulses comes in which time when speed is correct?

 that does not really matter so long has it see's the pulses all the time the chain is moving.

its a small continous conveyor that just goes round and round all day at the same speed when the motor is started, this conveyor has a clutch system so if the chain is jammed for any reason the sprocket stops moving but the system still thinks averything is ok.

so i have attached a sensor to see the pulses on the sprocket and i need to continously count and if the pulses are true then everything is ok and if the system is on and it does not see pulses then this will shut down the system. but like i say i have tried just using the sensor on a timer but that does not work.

i would say that if it does not see a pulse every 5 seconds then stop (but this can be adjustable)
