Hi, I just received a new lathe with the 808D. I tried to turn up the spindle speed using the speed control knob and I also only get a couple hundred RPM at best. You cant tell me that the inability to simply set this using the knob is an issue on my end... and that I need to read the manual. The XY axis move, and feed rate can be adjusted using the handwheel. Why cant I just speed the sindle up to max using the speed knob. Already have a bad taste in my mouth about my first Siemens controller over this. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |

Hello Gerry1454454145145, In which mode you are checking spindle speed? In JOG or manual mode, spindle speed is limited to lower range i.e. just to rotate spindle & not allowed to run at its max speed. You need to check spindle max RPM in MDI or AUTO mode. Please note that spindle can not be run more than RPM value set in spindle MD 35100 i.e. SPIND_VELO_LIMIT. Spindle set speed can be varied with help of speed variable knob in the range of 50% to 120%. Hope this helps. P. S. - Please check if this lathe machine has AUTO or MANUAL gear change mechanism. In AUTO mode, depending on spindle gear ratio (RPM) set, set or command spindle speed is achieved by changing gear steps automatically. If your machine is with manual gear change mechanism, based on gear steps max speed set in axis MD, you need to change gears manually. Please refer spindle axis MD 35090 - number of gear steps, MD35130 - gear step max velocity limit etc. etc. for more detail information, or refer machine manual supplied by OEM. |
