Hi; Our team here is planning to switch from Wireless Network to Wired Network for our existing SCADA telemetry network. We recently installed Fiber Optics cables in all our remote Sewage Pump Stations and this is used for CCTV network. We are planning to use the existing Fiber Optics network to switch from the current Wireless Network (SCALANCE M874 4G mobile wireless routers) to Fiber Optics Cable connection.Below image is our existing setup. Hi Ossii, since your fiber optic switch operates in another subnet than your Siemens devices, you will need a router (layer 3). The SCALANCE M874-3 can only route between the wireless 3G network and the wired network, so you can't use it anymore. Layer 3 routing functionality is provided by the SCALANCE XM-400 family with additional KEY-PLUG XM-400 Layer 3, by the SCALANCE X-500 family or by RUGGEDCOM Layer 3 routers. In my opinion, these solutions are somewhat oversized compared to the SCALANCE M874-3. I would suggest contacting Siemens technical support or using a competitor's router. You will find contacts for your region at the Siemens Contact Database. Kind regards |
