Hello Liner while different versions of the 948 CPU exist(ed), I am not aware of a948Bclassification and wonder if you mean 928A versus 928B. Anyway, below are a few selected links concerning both CPU's and please let us know the part number should these not help: Replacing a CPU 928A with a CPU 928B CPU 948 for S5-155U, Previous and New Versions - Product Information I hope this helps |

Please check that part number again dear Liner, I am not aware of a Siemens958 S5 CPU (perhaps misread or mispelled?). Just in case it is a 928B CPU that you want to use to replace a 948 CPU, the answer to "is this possible" is: Potentially yes, but its not something I would want to do. A 948 has at least 640 KB of RAM (a 1.6MB RAM version of it existed too) wheras a 928B has "only" 64 KB (+ 48 KB of additional DB RAM). So assuming your 948 program is not too big, you could do it, but will most likely have to make a fair few program modifications/adjustments which in part are described in the FAQ below (this one describeswhat to look out for ifyou use a 948 as a replacement for a 928B, the reverse is applicable in your case and additional things may need to be considered). Replacing the CPU 928B with a CPU948 I hope this helps |
