Amit_86 Posts: 1750 Rating: (272)	Dear All, i would like to know that when we lay field cable from PLC Panel to Field device. There are different voltage requirement for filed device for example 24V DC,110V AC,230 AC. So can i use single multi core cable from my PLC panel to wired all this filed device which are operating on different voltages? i think that EMI would effect the signal strength.Am i right? Thanks to all in advance.

I went many times to customers who were running AC cables side by side with 24DC signal cables without problems. The only time I got a problem when they laid Profibus cable alongside motor cable 380AC and that killed the communication. the problem was solved by moving the Profibus cable into another cable tray.

You find this 20cm minimum in any Siemens - Inverter Manual (Installation guide). It is the "near field influence". Cable crossing is not a big problem, but side by side! EMI: If you dont follow the rules, there MAY be problems, not MUST be. It is depending from several factors. If you put 220V together with 24V or analog cables or buscables, there is a big chance to catch problems. Longer cables, bigger problems. I see a lot of times that the rules are not fulfilled. Sometimes it works, sometimes you have problems. Than I complainand tell the customer to change thus installations to prevent against sporadic problems, that nobody can explain.

While there are a number of different views on this subject, I'm with IBN-Serviceon this oneand so is EN50174 if unshielded power cables are used without partioning. EN50174is alsoused by PI (Profibus International) as a reference for their Profibus Installation Guideline (available as a free download from HERE, see table on page 18). The issue is even more improtant when safety I/O's are used. The ligth and dark period tests that is automatically done by the F-I/O cardsreacts very sentively to any interfence and it's not fun when you get called for help and have toprove to a customer that the proximity of power cables is the cause for sporadically occuring passivations of his Safety I/O's (mind you, in that particalur case he foolishly did decide touse a multi-corecable for240VAC and 24V DC F-DI's related signals which is a definet no no).

But more important, it is dangerous for engineers working at the equipment. That's why in a lot off countries its not allowed. Regards, Marcjan

One more my personal observation want to share with you all. i have seen that power cables & Control Cable goes from the same cable tray or near by it in some small industries in india. i understand that sometimes it may cause the problem you never know. well any way, i got my answer.
