B AXIS DRIVE FAULT

alexmac_uk Posts: 118 Rating: (1)	Hi all, I have a problem on a 5 axis CNC machine. Sinumerik 840di with siemens 611u drives. X,Y,Z,B and C axis. B axis rotates 180 degrees to -180 degrees, C axis turns 360 degrees to -360 degrees. I am getting a B axis drive fault when machining a deep lock pocket on a door. The B axis is around at -180 degrees so is cutting horizontally from left to right step by step getting deeper. The error appears when the spindle has gone from right to left (as you are looking at it) and then before it can move back to the right it cuts out. Machine has to be shutdown because the fault cant be cleared by a normal NCK reset. This spindle had a fairly big crash on it not so long back and i have found that the gears on the B axis were loose, the motor has now been moved slightly so it is touching both the driving gears. It seems to me like there isnt enough torque on the B axis motor as it is only a small motor with nominal current rating of 1.7amp. Is there a MD setting that could be changed to increase torque or current to give the motor more strength? Everytime this cuts out the B axis position had moved by different amounts of 0.06mm upto 0.037mm. It was also cutting out while the B axis was at 0 degrees when the spindle had put a tool back into the tool changer but i think this could of been down to the loose gears. Any feedback would be helpful cheers.

alexmac_uk Posts: 118 Rating: (1)	How do you mean alarm? we get 380500 and 25202 B axis waiting for drive then when i press reset there is a long beep noise and then 25201 B axis drive fault appears and cannot remove it.

Fault 504 means " Measuring circuit error, motor measuring system" Cause: Encoder signal level is too low, faulted (incorrect shielding), or the cable breakage monitoring function has responded.After separately shutting down the supply voltage at the drive, for SIMODRIVE 611 universal HRS with 1Vpp encoder or SIMODRIVE universalE HRS with 1Vpp encoder, this fault message can be output during the shutdown procedure without any significance for the control. Remedy: -Use the original Siemens pre–assembled encoder cables (better screening) – Check for sporadic interruptions (loose contact, e.g. when the drag cable is being moved) – For toothed–wheel encoders, check the clearance between the toothed wheel and sensor – Check the encoder, encoder cables and connectors between the motor and control module – Check the screen connection at the front panel of the control module (top screw) – Replace the encoder cables or the control module – Exchange the encoder or motor – If this fault was signaled without any significance, then it should either be acknowledged in the control or the drive and control should be powered–down together. alexmac_uk Posts: 118 Rating: (1)	This is why i think it mabe the motor because it seems as though there is a lot of pressure acting against it in certain positions. But then again it could be the encoder cable, Yesterday i only tapped thebar where the motor sits and the B axis drive fault came up!
