PID smooth control & self-tuner

habbalmg Posts: 4 Rating: (0)	I am using the FB41 for temperature control. I am experiencing two undesired situations: 1) The PID controller keeps jumping between LMN max and LMN min in a very unsmooth way causing the process variable to keep bouncing aroundthe set-value. isn't there a way to make the LMN vary in small amount around the appropriate command value? Please note that the set-point is going up linearly before it stabilizes on a given value. 2) I have a CPU313C, and Step 7 version 5.1, do I need to purchase the PID tuner? Is it a simple function block or does it encompass additional hardware?Can youplease provide a rough estimate of its cost? Your soonest feedback would be appreciated. Regards!

Aret Posts: 2348 Rating: (265)	According to your description you can try: 1) decrease GAIN. Please mention, that it would cause greater response times 2) set/increase Td. But here actually you must be carefull, because in 95% of cases PI regulator with proper parameters is enough for smooth regulating. So setting Td usually means your process is not too good for PI regulator.
