TIA Portal v11 - Can't Save the Project

While working with a project, sometimes I can't able to save the currently edited project. It shows the Runtime Project Error as shown in the attached image. After restarting the system, it works fine. This problem occured at rare time only. How can I solve this in future? Attachment Compile Error.JPG (792 Downloads)

Or you have opened a project which is worked with functions of an optional package by an other PC and by your PC is not installed this optional software. Check by which moduls or functions (kind of programming) you will receive this error message. It is also possible that you have installed the optional software (example Savety, Technologie Modules) but you have forgotten to install the license. With best regards Cicero

0_Einstein Grandmaster-Expert Joined: 7/7/2010 Last visit: 12/23/2025 Posts: 16325 Rating: (2520)	In looking at the error and filename and reading your comments about it working fine after reboot, I think you may have opened multiple copies of your project file(s) and somehow the system locked that .ldf file. If this happens again, change your settings to not create a backup (during compile). Try again and see if it prevents the backup and compile or if you get a different error. If you find out what has locked that file (the redacted one), you can possibly close that application, delete the lock file, and then compile can continue. Once you get it compiled, remember to set your backup settings the way you really want. Also, post your results!

SelvakumaaR Bronze Member Joined: 6/4/2010 Last visit: 10/14/2025 Posts: 72 Rating: (0)	Some SQL database files are not properly released by the SQL Server application (which is internally used by the WinCC - TIA Poratal) after the running that project in the WinCC Runtime. Where can I find the Backup settings in TIA Portal to disable Backup during the Project Compile?

If you receive this behavior by all projects then install the TIA Portal V11 new again. And if receive this behavior only by one project, generate a new project an copy the moduls and components from the old in the new project. With best regards Cicero

At the time, when the RT behaviour is unexpected during the shutdown of RT. Without the help of a external tool (Program Unlocker) I am not able to Run or Backup or Save the project even I restart my system several times. But I can open that project in the TIA Portal.
