Hello Mike; Controlling a MM440 drive over RS-485 implies using the USS protocol (the other option is Profibus-DP, requiring a Profibus-DP master in the S7-1200 and a Profibus-DP slave module on the MM440). Look at the following Application from Siemens and see if it gives you the information you need to proceed: Simple networking and cascading of drives (CE-X8)
