The system has two conveyors: Master and Slave Master carries 66-70% of load, Slave carries 34-30% at all times Master runs at constant speed and load while Slave is to vary speed and load based on the input from the master conveyor. We have frequency drives for speed control. I need help on how to execute this.

And let me tell you that to make this application in a perfect way the following points should be covered. You should consider this application as a weigh feeder and not a beltscale. You can buy complete weigh feeder from siemens or design you own or modify the existing belt scale to be a weigh feeder. You have to select the most suitable load cells for your application by filling the questionaire.(You can download them from:www.siwarex.com) The difference that the Weigh feeder is powered by a VSD. It should have ashearing gateto be sure that the material (in your case tobacco) profile is with same height. Select a speed sensor for each belt. Select a Siwarex Module (in this case FTC) or an integrator like BW500 for each belt. And as you have a master belt conveyor. You have to run at a reasonable speed. Measure the master flow rate. The you have the Set point Flow rate (kg/min) for slave belt. Then you can control the slave flow rate by speed of slave VSD. Hope this helps.

Levelheaded Regular Member Joined: 6/13/2013 Last visit: 4/2/2025 Posts: 24 Rating: (2)	Siemens also offers belt scale products for this type of application, data sheets can be filled in from this link: http://www.automation.siemens.com/w1/automation-technology-weighing-systems-17494.htm#lb-51,content-19604 I would recommend the Milltronics MSI and the BW500, the BW500 comes with an optional Analog IO card which can link to the other BW500 to work as a Master/slave.
