Hello Cerbero; For information on Profibus-PA topologies and limitations, I suggest you go to the Download section of the Profibus.com site, and open the Profibus-PA User and Installation Guide: http://www.profibus.com/download/installation-guide/ You will find a lot of information in Profibus-PA networks, such as is found in the first table attached below. Notice that the length of a IEC 61158 network (Profibus-PA and FF) is always given as the total of trunk (main cable) lengthand all spurs (even though spurlength is limited by the number of total slaves on the network; this is also described in the manual, see second table in the attachment). As far as cabling installed in hazardous areas, this is how the manual describes theeffect of Ex zones on cabling limitations Cables installed in hazardous area have to meet the requirements of the relating standards (e.g. IEC 60079-14, chapter 12.2.2.7 and 12.2.2.8 /S4/). Installations based on FISCO are not subject to safety restrictions when the limit values listed in Table 3-2 are complied with. See also chapter 1. Although operation outside these limit values is not prohibited in general, each case must be judged on an individual basis. Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier |
