n00dels Experienced Member Joined: 4/8/2013 Last visit: 6/30/2024 Posts: 95 Rating: (7)	Hello, What is the permitted method to give the ACK_REI on Safety IO? is it allowed according to the safety standards to combine this action with any Operator action ( likefor exampleacknowledge an alarm rule) ordoes this require a seperateoperator action dedicated to ACK_REI for the acknowledgement of the reintegrate? regards

Phantom75 Posts: 2661 Rating: (279)	Hi n00dels, There is no rule regarding the safety I/O reintegration -- it's mainly a preference of the plant maintenance personnel when and how to allow the reintegration. Sometimes (especially during startup/commissioning/testing) the reintegration can prove pretty painful and so it's common practice to connect a single acknowledge en-masse or loop back the ACK_REQ to the ACK_REI. n00dels Experienced Member Joined: 4/8/2013 Last visit: 6/30/2024 Posts: 95 Rating: (7)	i have read thecompendium and understand the F_QUITES blockand it is a simpledouble operation to prevent accidental reintegration. it seems that there is no real safety requirement concerning this as phanthom mentioned but i sincerly doubt it its a good practise in safety systems to interconnect the ACK_REQ to the ACK_REINT. sure it will do its job while commisioning but what about safety certificates and rules and regulations? Questioning colleagues comes up with just a vague answer that there must be a manual operator action to reintegrate the safety function. what i am wondering is is this documented anywhere what is theofficial correctway to do this and is it important forcertification of your software?

For this purpose, you must interconnect input ACK_REI with a signal generated by an operator input. An interconnection with an automatically generated signal is not permitted." Regards jumo
