Hello guys; Just to give some details on Eric's last post: it would be correct if the PP 17 was a Panel (Profibus Master Class 2); however,the Pushbutton Panels are Profibus-DP (or MPI)slaves, integrated in a configuration through their gsd file.See the attached manual: http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/1142916 This means that 2 DP masters can both "share" (read) the inputs of the PP 17, but only one can "own" (control, write to) the outputs, the LED status for example. So I am not sure this will be workable in the original project. Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier |

Hi, you canuseonly one connection toa PLC. If you want to control both PLC with PP you can do the following: 1. Variant: Insert the panel in a MPI or DP subnet.You need two PLC with MPI and DP interface. Connect the twoPLC with a standard MPI/DP cable on the MPI ports. The two PLCcan communicate via global data communication over MPI. So you can send the special data from PP over the first PLC to the second PLC. Maybe this FAQ will help (Global data communication): http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/de/28866566 2. Variant: Connect the two Profibus subnet with a DP/DP coppler. You can send the data from the first PLC which is the PP connected to the other PLC via IO address area. 3. Variant: One of the PLC works as DP slave. So, you have to insert the secondPLC in the DP subnet as DP slave (I am not sure but not all PLCs supported this function). Then you send the data over the IO address area. Bye |
