Up gradation from PCS7-7.0 to PCS7-8.2.

Dear All,

               Client having PCS7-7.0.  It has to update to PCS7-8.2.

               I have already searched many manuals forum & compendiums regarding this but there is not found any direct solution on the same. Plant is in running condition.

               Please suggest require hardware/software for this up gradation.

               Please share any idea or method for the same.

Hi,

       If updating from PCS7-7.0 to PCS7-7.1Sp4  with utilization of new function then also;

       have some block to change while updating to PCS7-8.2 from PCS7-7.1Sp4?

        If updating required two step then; is it needs three PCS7 software? 

       What about available hardware ?

Please Suggest the best way to proceed.

Well Migration is always little tricky.....

I assume that your system is Redundant one. Then  IO cards need not be changed.

Please Check the following

1. Controller Firmware. I assume the V7.x shall have 412,414,416,417 controller in PCS7. The latest Controller is AS410, Dont fret now, You do not require the change the controller. But it will be best if you can check with your Siemens Local partner of the change. as the future innovation are planned on 410 only.

2. Be sure the Operator and Engineering Station needs to be upgraded as well as the new software will work on Window 7 or Higher only and the PC configuration need to suit the same.

3. In case of redundant system CP1613 card shall be used and CP1623 is the PCI xpress slot card. This card needs to be replaced to CP1623 from existing CP1613. and the red Connect license has to be migrated as well for suiting Windows7 or later.

Plant may require a shut down for a day at least.....There is no point in online migration of the plant.
