I have installed Node-RED on my IOT2020. I can start it with the command in putty terminal and everything works fine, but when i close the terminal window on my computerer Node-RED stops working. Someone knows what to do?

Hi, thanks for help. I use exxactly this command, and when i close the putty terminal can`t i reach the web site anymore. Do you know some other things i can try?

I suppose I have the same problem as Makkan99.

If I close the last putty connection Node-Red stops without telling any reason after a while (sometimes after a few seconds, almost after a few minutes).

I start it with the command:
node /usr/lib/node_modules/node-red/red &

I've tried it with putty via LAN/X1, LAN/X2 and FTDI-Cable (UART), allways the same.

What can be the reason for this behaviour?

Hi,

Autostart of node-red with the iot2000setup menu fixed the problem for me. 

i got a problem with the UI page of node-red. After some hours i can`t access the UI page, but i can access the Node-red programming page. After a reboot it`s work fine again. Is it something i can do so i can access Node-red UI page all the time?

What can be the reason for this behaviour?

I guess it is because node-red can not longer access its standard in/out/error file handles and it it receives the "HUP" signal (hangup) when you close the terminal..

To avoid this, you would redirect stdout, stderr and stdin to /dev/null:

node /usr/lib/node_modules/node-red/red 2>/dev/null >/dev/null </dev/null &

There is a tool called "nohup" which can be used to suppress this, but it's probably not installed on the IoT:

nohup node /usr/lib/node_modules/node-red/red &

nohup is installed, in fact, but starting via the run script that iot2000setup creates is the recommended way.
