Hello Vipz, The configuration is correct. You can find it in the 400H manual as "Redundant IO in one sided DP slave". The active backplanes are mandatory for hot swapping. If hot swapping is not required, you can install the rack without active backplane. Normally, this is a typical S5-H migration. the S5-H used this technique but it supported hot swapping if I remember well. It's the same technique as in switched redundant IOs. The inputs will be analyzed and the correct values will be stored in lower addresses before the start of each cycle. Both CPUs will depend on lower addresses for decision making. For the outputs, it's a bit different as both CPUs will generate outputs and each output rack/module will transfer the generated outputs of the connected CPU to the field. In switched configuration, both CPUs generate outputs but the rack/module listens to the active channel/active IM and if this channel/IM fails, the outputs of other Channel (i.e the other CPU) will be transferred to the field instead. In simple words, in case of in single sided, there is no switching for interface modules. Best regards, H-H |
