we are using 40 nos. of S7 300 PLC in our plant. Is it true that S7 300 is going to be obsolete or may be difficult to get the parts/cards with high price? Is this the reason S7-1500 PLC with TIA portal is getting more recommended ?

Do we need to replace the S7 300 PLC in plant with S7 1500 to avail the advantages ?

my strategy would be to start investing in new technology.  New installations should be S7 1500.  Gear-up to be able to support both 1500 and 300.  Even if there is a price rise for S7 300 modules, maintaining the S7 300 should still be cheaper than migrating to S7 1500. Migration is a process not an event.

Availability

As part of our established product portfolio, the SIMATIC S7-300 / ET 200M system families will generally be available until 2023.
Following the product phase-out declaration, products will be available as spare parts for another ten years.

The availability as spare parts means that you are obliged to deliver the damaged part first, in order to receive a new one. And the cost indeed can be substantially higher then it is now.

IMHO, the new S7 families are recommended for new designs.
