Just a quick question, would it  be possible to use the logo given its integer limitations

to measure 500 meters using an encoder then issue an alarm and start the measurement again.

Yes thats possible.

Only look at the max. frekwentie for counting the pulses of the measure-device.

Best is max 4 Hz for counting etc.
