Hi all

I have a couple of questions about firmware updates for CU320-2PN Control units and S120 PM240 Drives.

I have created a drives program in STARTER offline and will soon go and install this in actual hardware, I set the CU up as V5.2 in the starter program.

My questions are:

1) I have extended safety function licences, I noticed that when doing the firmware update via the card reader you are supposed to copy the KEYS folder to your desktop, completely delete the contents of the card, copy the new firmware onto it and then copy the KEYS folder back in. However when doing the update through the web server there is no mention of the KEYS folder, is there no need to backup the safety licences in this case?

2) The drives and CU are brand new from siemens, are they likely to already come pre-installed with latest firmware or by default do they tend to be out of date?

3) I assume the STARTER program will flag up any issues with the firmware, for the CU, if the already installed firmware is, for example, 4.8. Does this specifically need to be updated or could you simply change the version in starter to match it?

4) finally, it looks to me like the most up to date version of the firmware for my hardware is V5.2 HF7, can anyone confirm this is correct?
