WinCC Unified – Simple Sample - Analog Alarm

“Simple Samples” are small projects that demonstrate simple features. The target is giving a quick overview about the theme and be used as start point for related discussions. Follow there are a short description and the configuration main steps.

Alarm messages are an important tool for operation diagnose of process and system events. There is many variations about alarm and alarm view object settings. Here there is two variants of then: pending and logged  alarms.

Configuration main steps:

• Open a pre-configured project
• Create an int tag:  Project Tree → Show all tags->  <add new>, Name = HMI_Tag_1, Data Type = int
• Create an alarm definition: Project tree -> HMI -> HMI Alarms -> Analog alarms (tab) ->  <Add new> ; Alarm text = "HMI_Tag_1 high" (for example), Trigger Tag = HMI_Tag_1; Limit = 100; Limit mode = Higher.
• Place the Alarm control on a screen: Open a screen; Drag and drop an Alarm Control object from the toolbox (controls division) on the screen Properties: General, Alarm source = pending alarms
• To simulate values on the tag: drag and drop (select the tag on project tree, HMI tags, default tag table, details view windows) the HMI_Tag_1 to the screen.

TIP:to insert dynamic text to the alarm text (e.g. variable values as part of the text): select the alarm text for edition, right click mouse,  "Insert parameter filed...", and add a tag

As from TIA Portal V19 up2 it is also possible to alarm texts that are too long to be displayed in its column in multiple lines (wrapped), so that the entire text can be read.

TIPs

• This new feature (wrapped) is available for the Information, Alarm Text & Additional Text 1 to 9 fields.
• To see the multiple lines, it is necessary to click on the alarm – show current button and a single click (no double click) on the desired field.
• Configuration: the alarm control should be configured with Section mode = single (as default), and e.g. as Appearance- style item as HmiAlarmControl
