Generally this Logo8.2 is okay, but you also can get a newer model Logo8.3 12/24RC with new features for the same money. Search for the order no. 6ED1052-1MD08-0BA1 instead of 6ED1052-1MD08-0BA0.

This model has only been delivered for a few weeks and is not available from all distributors up to now. You don't need the new features unless you don't have an Amazon cloud. The cloud has possibilities to use the extended Logo webserver from any PC on the world.

The Logo8.2 also has  an extended webserver, but only for local use or VPN connections, this is the difference to Logo8.3.

the encoder is a 6000PPR encoder. So fingers crossed it will work with the new Logo 8

Since i had no details of the rotation speed in your application, you have to check it yourself. The max. frequency of the fast counter inputs I3-I6 is 5kHz. The input must be directly connected to an threshold block or counter block without any other blocks.

If you have a rotation speed of e.g. 600 rpm, then it is 10 rotations per second. If the encoder has 500 impulses per rotation, then the limit is already reached. (10x500=5kHz)

P.S. Just i have seen some details of your encoder. This one is programmable up to 65536 per rotation, presetted to 40000 per rotation, used for windmills. The preset of 40000 means, that one rotation at least need 8 seconds to avoid 5kHz max. frequency. Be careful to select the right controller, maybe a S7-1200 is the better choice depending on your application.
