Problem: Siemens licenses are not visible anymore in Siemens Automation License Manager. License missing message appears from time to time.

Folder AX NF ZZ containing license files is still stored on the hard drive.

Attachment 8.JPG shows a message which is displayed when the Recovery Wizard is opened. 

What to do? Reinstall the Siemens Automation License Manager? Or are there other options to have the licenses appear again?

Problem appears on a machine of a customer. Downtime should be a minimal, therefore i want to view my options first.

When it comes to license keys..
user suggestions (Forum) is maybe not a good idea.

There are no longer licenses visible in the Automation License Manager On starting SIMATIC software it brings a license error message

Cause
Most likely it is a right issue with the initialization of the Windows cryptographic component


Solution

1.    stop the ALM Service:
Start >Settings> Control Panel > Administrative Tools >Services


2.    rename the folder “MachineKeys:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Anwendungsdaten\Microsoft\Crypto\RSA\MachineKeys
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Anwendungsdaten\Microsoft\Crypto\RSA\MachineKeys

Vista and Win7 use the path
...\ProgramData\Microsoft\Crypto\RSA\MachineKeys
...\ProgramData\Microsoft\Crypto\DSS\MachineKeys

3. restart the ALM Service and restart the computer

A new folder MachineKeys will be created.
ALM will show all license keys again.

This worked for me.

you have the following directory? - If "All Users" is not visible, copy the complete text and paste it to the corresponding line in the explorer.

C:\Users\All Users\Microsoft\Crypto\RSA\MachineKeys
