Controlling stepper motor driver.

yes we can control stepper motor with logo but only for simple task like a cutting machine  and in this case we can use pulse generator shift register and timers .

but you should use transistor output logo module. transistor output give you fast switching output pulses and use another output you can use for direction signals.

At which pulse rate do you expect to pulse the stepper motor's amplifier?

 I've found a document about the subject you're talking about.
 Good work 

For controlling a stepper motor, you need the following:

- stepper motor

- stepper motor driver

- a DM16 24 (for trans. 0.3A output) - will use this because Logo! 12/24 RCE outputs are all relay base

- Logo 7+

**Hardware connection:

1. connect Q1 and Q2 of the Logo to (Direction+ and Enable+) respectively on the stepper motor driver

2. connect Q1 of the  DM 16 24 to Pulse+ of the stepper motor driver

3. connect the Coil A and Coil B of the stepper motor on the driver

4. connect a 24V supply to the motor driver

5. Note that Pulse+, Direction+, and Enable+ has a 1.5k ohms resistor in between since the PLC output has 24V and the step motor driver input requires 5V.

**Software connection

1. Use the Asynchronous Pulse Generator as the trigger block for the Q1 of the DM16 24 (Pulse+)

2. Use any switch for the direction and Enable control using the Q1 and Q2 of the Logo output

Conclusion:

- the maximum frequency that you can feed to the stepper motor driver is 50Hz

- since it only runs on 10ms for TH and TL of the Asynchronous Pulse Generator function block.

- running it below 10ms will not run the stepper motor

- this means that the maximum speed we can do on stepper motor with the PLC Logo and stepper motor driver will be at 50Hz only and this is very slow.

*** another option is to use a Pulse / frequency generator like Arduino/Function Generator/any Microcontroller that will give you output of more than 50Hz to X-kHz. 

- this means that you are controlling the stepper motor using the PLC Logo but you are giving the Pulse signal from a 3rd party controller like Arduino and Microcontroller. 

- you can adjust also the speed of the stepper motor by varying the frequency using a potentiometer on the Arduino input.
