Hi, 

I have connected one Ethernet cable from IOT 2040 to my laptop & another Ethernet cable from IOT 2040 to the wifi router but when i try to ping using "ping www.google.com", i only get the following: "ping: bad address 'www.google.com'". Can anyone here advise me on how i can make a successful internet connection to the IOT 2040?

Hi, i was previously connected to the router which has DHCP enabled.

But not the router is not working.

So i have now connected to internet like the below mentioned:

I have changed the IP address of the IOT 2040 to be in the same range as my internet ip settings since internet connection currently done using static ip.

Therefore, now i am only using one Ethernet port of the IOT2040.

Which means, i have connected the Ethernet cable from the IOT 2040 to a network switch, then from another cable from network switch to the router of the internet & another cable from the switch to my laptop.

I am able to ping my device using PUTTY & also my handphone which is connected to the internet (using another static IP).

But now i am not able to ping www.google.com

I am trying to ping google.com to make sure there is internet connection so that i can install the node-red npm.

Here's the screenshot of the result of the ifconfig.

Please advise on what i should do next.

 Yes i can ping the router as well.

 But for this IOT its not working.

Yes i have other connections & all other devices have good internet connection.

By the way, i have now moved to another location. Now using different internet connection (this time i have an internet which allows me to use DHCP. 

Now my connection is like below:

I have one ethernet cable from PC to IOT eth0 and another ethernet cable fro  IOT eth1 to my internet router (i managed to successfully install the node red s7 node).

I managed to open the node-red webserver & everything after that (but i had problem with my ethernet cable connection to PLC) where it resulted in error in connection to the PLC.

No i have connected like below (laptop to a network switch then followed by network switch to IOT eth0 & another from network switch to the PLC). 

One more cable from the internet router to the the IOT eth1.

Now when i try to start the node-red from putty. I am getting the message: error: port in use.

I will attach a screenshot here.

Please help me.

Then this should work..

Do you have any other devices connected to the router? If yes, do they have connection to the internet? Are you sure the router is working?

 Sorry i am not sure on how to check if the auto start option is activated for node-red.

Can you advise me on hoe to check for this? And should i disable the auto start?

Do you have the autostart option activated for node-red?If yes you have started node-red twice and becuase of this the port is already in use.

Yes, now i have enabled the auto start of the node-red by following the steps mentioned in the link that you have shared earlier.

Now i have problem getting to read the values (meaning the change in values is not being displayed on the screen when the value changes (as shown in the document S7_Comunication_node-red_V1.0). The variable address that i have keyed in to the node-red webserver variables table are:

DB1,BOOL0 

DB1,BOOL1

Is the above method is correct? I have clicked on "deploy" button after following all steps in the above mentioned document.

But then when i try to key in the path inside the putty, there is this message keep appearing "some name" is a directory (i have followed as shown in the example document).

Can anyone advise me on how i can get the values displayed like shown in the document?

Yes it worked perfectly. 

I would like to know on how i can transfer the data from IOT to PLC (let say if i have some inputs on the IOT side is turning ON & OFF) then i want to send that particular input's status to S7-1200.

Can this be done?
