Problem with connection to profibus DP drives via ethernet by using Starter

Also I understand that I have to download this new station to PLC. Is it possible to download it without stopping PLC and losing connections with other PLCs? LuckyMe Member Joined: 8/8/2011 Last visit: 10/14/2024 Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	Hi Eric, For the past three years I have been "fighting" with STARTER and it's inability tointegratewith PCS7 (V7.1 SP3 + STARTER V4.2 and V4.3 + G120 and S150 drives). After installing DriveES in order to get updates to the Hardware Config catalogue and then upgrades and downgrades of STARTER, the first solution to no ethernet comms to the G120's wasto completely rebuild our ES. Subsequently we lost communications again when we were issued by latest release drives which were not compatible with V4.2, downgrade back from V4.3 to V4.2 (as V4.3 was not compatible with the G120's we had already)and wereforced todelete and recreate the drives in the HWConfig followed by a full hardware download to the PLC. Finally we have renamed our project and have once again lost the ability to "go online" with any of the drives from the multiproject. As a last note - we HAD NO PG/PC interface configured - that is what our ES and Engineering clients do through their CP cards. The CP cards required no special configurations other than being the preferred NIC and having to select ISO as the preferred communications method to the drives. Multiple help calls to Siemens only resulted in apologies and no solution other than we cannot upgrade our system and maintain the integration of the drives with the multiproject.

Eric_Voronov Posts: 12 Rating: (0)	Hi, Thanks foryourreply! I know that ourproject was made on ES without Drive ES installed on itby copy pasting drives from another project. Could it be the solution for me if I recreate Hardware on ES which has Starter V4.3 installed on it and download it to CPU?

I have had some success - however it is a little bit confusing/ annoying. I found out through trial and error that if I wanted to go online with my drives from the MultiProject it was important where the multiproject was stored! We have a central Engineering Server but work from six Engineering Clients. I realised that a local copy of the project on one of my Clients (hasBOTH Starter 4.0.2.1 and Drive ES 5.4 SP2) could go online with the drives. However, if we opened the server (Only Starter installed ) copy of the project on the clients, we could not talk to the drives. As soon as I installed Drive ES on the server I was back to where I started. I was unable to find any information as to what components are required (and the "Installed Software" list on the server is different to the clients!!!) in order for the routing to work. Good Luck

I have already tried to addPG\PC stationin NETPRO and download itas it was described in manual. But it doesn't work. Are there any solutions of this problem? However we implemented ES with STARTER installed on it on other plant. And it works great even without adding new PG\PC station in NETPRO. But on that plant we have ISO Industrial Ethernet connection.

The ISO protocol is a MAC address based communication and doesn't support the routing feature. SINAMICS also doesn't support this protocol ! Regards Christoph

Eric_Voronov Posts: 12 Rating: (0)	Hi, May be my explanation was not full. We have Micromaster drives on profibus network. And our ES station with Starter connected to PLC by ISO Industrial Ethernet.So we havea connection to profibus drives via Ethernet.
