what is the recommend modern drive system for roller table motors? the existing configuration has 15-20 motors operated by a single Simovert P type converter, I am wondering if replacing the converter with the book-sized Sinamics S120 system, with one motor module per motor is the recommended solution, or use a bigger drive and that feeds multiple motors together.

the existing power supply is to the drives is 500V, 50hz

and the existing motors are rated for 430V @ 39Hz, 7.9kW, 1146 rpm, ~16Amp

Hi, as long as the motors have individual protections, then I would leave it as a single drive i.e. a G130 drive unit (200 - 250kW based on the duty/loading cycles etc) or G150 if you wanted to replace the entire cabinet.

Take a look at the CATALOG

Using S120 with individual modules, even double motor modules would be horrendously expensive.
