TIA V16 Communication via Profinet to Simatic DC-DC Converter

Hi,

I am working on an interesting project at the moment, trying to establish communication between CPU1512SP F-1PN via Profinet to a DC-DC Converter (SINAMICS DCP CBE20 V1.2).

When I add the DCP to the program and I add the 'DO with free Telegram, PZD-8/8' for the comms, it automatically assigns (200-215) Inputs and Outputs (200-215) to the program and I can see them in the assignment list. But I can not see the bits arriving at the converter when I hook it up directly via Simatics Starter and I can not see anything coming back from the Converter either.

Do I have to set up a Communications Block or something or is it as basic as adding the assigned   Outputs (200-215) to my ladderlogic?

I never worked myself with the DCP but I can imagine your problem.

The thing is that DCP supports only "free telegrams" - but it still wants to have the first PZD as STW1 (control word 1) according to PROFIdrive profile. In STW1 there is the most important bit to create the cyclic communication between DCP and PLC -> it is Bit 10: Control by PLC. 

As long as this bit is not connected and not fed with a "1" signal by the PLC the drive will not communicate cyclically with the PLC. So I checked the operating instructions and found the following:

- check out chapter 7.4.3 (communication)

- in chapter 7.4.3.2 you can see how STW1 is structured

I guess you have to create all the bit connections for STW1 yourself manually in STARTER. 

If you have done so, you need to send a "1" signal firstly from your PLC to Bit10 in PZD1 - then the drive will receive your PLC commands.

Thank you very much for your detailed reply which helps me massively!

I had a look at the manual and will try to implement this tomorrow at work. The Principal Engineer will also organize the flashcard for the DCP which somehow got lost and hopefully I will get the communication up and running tomorrow.
