Trying to build upon IE Data Service

I am trying to build upon IE Data Service. I have downloaded the Data Service Development Kit on my local setup. There is already a Simulation connector adapter preconfigured with this Data Service Development Kit. According to the documentation, we can add our own custom adapters. But when I am trying to add my custom adaptor to this Data Service, there is an error 'Bad Request

Not_A_Development_Kit_Feature: This feature is not supported by development kit. Details [object Object]'.
