Thanks for the quick answer! I got stuck with FDL because the manual for a CP only lists more details here, but I didn't realise there are several technologies. Here are the main devices:
Engineering done in: PCS7 V9.0 (SP3) As I have learned, a slave can read only 244 Bytes, so if I want to read 300 bytes I have to use 2 Slaves
If a single device shall read those bytes it has to configure with multiple Profibus Slaves. Is it as simple as that? Hi, I got the answer, it is actually quite simple. According to the standard, you can have 125 Slaves and transfer 244 bytes per slave but devices do not necessarily support the whole address range of 125x244 bytes. For example a CPU315-2DP, 256 KB supports only an address area of 2048 bytes. So the addresses 0 to 1951 are transmitted by 8 fully utilised slaves (each 244 bytes). The remaining 96 bytes from 1953 to 2047 are transmitted by the partly utilised slave. FYI:
