PLC cannot go online, error 288:86

I try to use step 7 simatic manager to go online and monitor the code. However, no matter what PG/PC interface I try, I get the error 288:86 and then I am stuck in an endless loop and the program trying to connect via assigned. I even tried using 3 different programs for this PLC from different points in time and backup programs. I have found nothing helpful online so far and I am feeling desperate about how to fix this as I do not have this issue on any other simatic s7-300 PLCs.

Or try to repair PG/PC interface - please check this FAQ: How do you generally parameterize the PG/PC interface and how do you ensure that the device driver can be selected and is visible?
