Hello, 

I am wondering if there is a way to have a program as "View-Only" for helping techs troubleshoot. 

I want them to have the ability to go online and see the station run and if there is an issue see what step and what the issue is. 

Is this a possiblity and if so how would I go about doing this?

Hi Kepnern,

in general you can configure a passwort  for "write protection" in the cpu hw-config.

So without password, only reading access is possible with an online connection.

But this will only affect the online programm running on the cpu.

If you want also read only access for the offline program, this may be possible with user management in TIA.

So I am trying this for a S7-300 PLC running on S7 Simatic Manager. We are not running on Portal. Is this still possible? I have been trying to do this on a practice program. I really just want the tech to be able to go online to see the program (missing switch, ect) quickly and still not be able to change the program. Maybe there is a different software I can use to do this? Maybe WinCC has a function to add this and not even have to mess with the program?

Hello,

for the SIMATIC Manager there is no such function.

You can either protect the blocks with a password but than you can´t open them at all or you can "do what you want" within the opened block.
